Forum Title: Purpose of little door seal wedges?
What's the purpose of the little tapered adhesive-backed squares that come in the hardware bag of pre-hung exterior doors? The door already has stripping all around so why install the pads?

There should be a pin in one of the holes. Do you see it? You might need to turn the ring. To do that you can use a drill bit that fits the hole. (You need the hardened steel of a drill bit. A nail may bend.) Source: homeguides.sfgate

No--way too soft and per instructions they are installed last. I'm happy to follow the instructions and use up all the bits in the bag--but do wonder WHY those are included.

Many times the bottom of the weather stripping is sandwiched by the adjustable threshold. The wedges are inserted behind the weatherstripping and attached to the side jamb. It holds the stripping out away from the door to provide a better seal.
