Forum Title: Need advice on window installation,
I am installing windows on my home. and up against permit inspections. The woman that they sent out to inspect doesn't like where I screwed them in. I was wondering if anyone is familiar with a few window installation terms.: Head O C distance Sill O C Distance Jamb OC Distance And How it relates to Corner distance, which I already know is 4 what I really need to know if where to put the screws. The diagram specs are very confusing. The home depot guy wasn't great at explaining it. nor the manufacturer. so I;m hoping some of my FB friends may be able to clear this up for me.

Is it a shim you can use to keep the door centered in the jamb when installing?

OC ==On center. 6 OC means a fastener every 6 inches. Head== The top horizontal part of the window frame Sill== The bottom horizontal part of the window frame Jamb== The side, vertical parts of the window frame Example, using the top line of the table...which is kind of cut off in your picture. You would have a fastener 4 from the corner on top, bottom, and side...8 fasteners. On the head (top) you would have a fastener at least every 12 inches, starting from the corner fasteners. Same on the sill, every 12 starting from the corner fasteners. Jambs (sides) every 9 starting from the corner fasteners. Hope that helps...

Thank you, I think this is starting to make sense. On the anchor layout I;m using the #10 Screws, last one down. as far as the O C. does the head distance and the Jamb distance go from the Center of the window, and on the side where the window splits (Center)?
